Over the last two years, Pop! Goes The Reader has become my pride and joy. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve dedicated countless hours and funds in order to make this the best blog I possibly can and to create a small corner of the internet that is all my own. The last thing I would ever want is for blogging to become something I do out of obligation or something I grow to resent. That said, I’m afraid that if I don’t allow myself to take a small break now, that’s precisely what will happen. It’s time to take a step back. To refill the creative well. To rediscover the joy and put aside the stress and obligation. To take care of myself. In short? It’s time for a hiatus.
There’s nothing that I’m more passionate about than discussing the books I’ve read (and adored) and nothing that brings me more joy than collaborating with authors, publishers, and bloggers in order to help readers discover the perfect book for them. I would love to organize and host more events like Her Story: Ladies In Literature and ‘Tis The Season: Authors Talk Holidays and in the weeks ahead I hope that I’ll finally have the time and energy to brainstorm new ideas and do just that. I’m currently working on two burgeoning concepts – Middle Grade Madness and The Spooky, Scary Spectacular in October – and I couldn’t be more excited at the prospect of having the opportunity to develop them more completely.
I’ll see you on September 7th! Until then, you can always find me on Twitter (@Pop_Reader) or email me at Jen@popgoesthereader.com!

I’m really, really, really proud of you for making this decision. I know we talk a lot about self-care but we’re the two who are least likely to actually do it. So I’m glad you’ve made this step.

You’ve been so amazing at taking care of all of us for so long. I’m glad you’re taking care of you for a change.
*hugs*
Have a wonderful break! 🙂 I hope it is restful and rejuvenating and you come back feeling energized.
I can’t wait to read your new features upon your return! I hope you enjoy your hiatus. The blogosphere will be a sad place in your absence!

I will miss your posts, but I think a break sounds wonderful! I’m a firm believer in people taking a break at least once, whether it’s a few days or months. It really does help refill the creative well. I hope it helps you, in just that, and in re-energizing yourself so you can come back stronger and with renewed joy. 🙂
