Cover Reveal: Shadow Of A Pug by Casey Lyall

Few things bring me greater joy than using Pop! Goes The Reader to help share and celebrate a friend’s good news, and today’s post is no exception. Today, I couldn’t be more thrilled to host the exclusive cover reveal for my dear friend and author, Casey Lyall, and the forthcoming second instalment in her charming, creative, irresistible Howard Wallace, P.I. middle grade series, Shadow Of A Pug! Coming to a bookstore and library near you September 5th, 2017 from Sterling Children’s Books, Shadow Of A Pug follows the continuing adventures of our titular character, Howard, and his ever-faithful sidekick and fellow detective, Ivy. After cracking the case of the missing student treasury in Lyall’s debut, this time Howard and Ivy are hot on the trail of a pugnapper responsible for stealing the school mascot in a rollicking adventure sure to make readers smile in two shakes of a dog’s tail. I was fortunate enough to host the cover reveal for Howard Wallace, P.I. back in April 2016 and went on to read and review the novel in August 2016. I can say with absolute sincerity that Lyall’s debut was some of the most fun I’ve had while reading in recent memory and that Howard Wallace’s escapades, a loving tribute to the language, tropes, and beats of the noir genre, promise something special for readers of all ages. So break out your bathrobe and bubblegum, because Howard and Ivy are back!

About Casey Lyall

Casey Lyall (5’4”, brown hair, blue eyes, no known aliases) is a middle grade writer from Southwestern Ontario. She works at her local library where she runs a number of teen groups and waits for Management to discover they’re actually paying her to have fun. When she’s not writing, Casey loves to bake, watch an “unhealthy” amount of movies and television, and of course, read. She’d consider adding detective work to the list if she could find a proper coat.

Middle-school detectives Howard Wallace and Ivy Mason are itching for a juicy case. But when their friend and cohort Marvin hires them to prove his nephew — über-bully Carl Dean — didn’t pugnap the school mascot, they’re less than thrilled. To succeed, not only must Howard and Ivy play nice with Carl, they’ll have to dodge a scrappy, snoopy reporter and come face-to-face with Howard’s worst enemy, his ex-best friend Miles Fletcher. Can Howard deal with all these complications and still be there for Ivy when her life is turned upside down? Or will he once again find himself a friendless P.I.?
