I can’t believe this is finally here! The The Love Interest cover reveal! I don’t really know what to say about it here – because this book has been such a huge part of my life for the past few years, and it’s so intensely and wonderfully personal that saying anything feels scarily revealing. But oh well, here it goes!
Basically, this book was the catalyst for a bunch of HUGE changes in my life. Like, even pre-agent and book deal, working on this was slowly turning my life into the one I wanted. This book gave me the confidence to quit the degree I hated to focus on writing. This book is the reason I now feel about myself the way I do. Specifically, talking about/sending the manuscript to people was the first time I EVER talked about being gay to anyone – I’m not even sure if the CPs I sent it to know this, but yeah, sending them this was my first ever coming out experience. And I’m never going to not associate The Love Interest with that.
Before this book, I was nowhere near as secure with myself as I am now. This book gave me buckets of confidence in that regard (I’m still a mess everywhere else, but sexuality wise, I’m good), in a way that felt totally out of nowhere and totally perfect for my life. Confirming my mess status: I’m crying writing this! And I’m not even a cry-er!
Embarrassing over confessional aside, this cover: I f*cking love it. And I really hope you do as well!
