Joy killed Adam Gordon — at least, that’s what she thinks. The night of the party is hazy at best. But she knows what Adam did to her twin sister, Grace, and she knows he had to pay for it.
What Joy doesn’t expect is that someone else saw what happened. And one night a note is shoved through her open window, threatening Joy that all will be revealed. Now the anonymous blackmailer starts using Joy to expose the secrets of their placid hometown. And as the demands escalate, Joy must somehow uncover the blackmailer’s identity before Joy is forced to make a terrible choice.
In this darkly compelling narrative, debut author Laura Tims explores the complicated relationship between two sisters, and what one will do for the other. It’s a story that will keep readers turning pages and questioning their own sense of right and wrong.
“Variety is the spice of life.” It’s an age-old truth. It’s what people say. And I absolutely believe it to be true. In theory, anyway. You see, I’m a bit of an all-or-nothing type of girl. If I’m passionate about something, for better or worse I have a tendency to become absolutely consumed by it, and this is no less true of my reading habits. A recent Top Ten Tuesday prompt – Top Ten Books I Enjoyed Recently That Were Outside My Normal Genre – inspired me to reflect on this for the first time in a very serious way. The truth is, my reading habits aren’t as varied or as diverse as I would like. I love contemporary and historical fiction and firmly believe they are what I will continue to gravitate toward, but this year I would like to make more of an effort to explore new avenues and challenge myself to read outside of my comfort zone. Two genres I’ve always enjoyed, but have read sparingly in, are mysteries and thrillers. Enter Laura Tims’ 2016 debut, Please Don’t Tell. While on the surface this novel could also be classified as a contemporary story, I was immediately intrigued by the distinct sense of unease and uncertainty the novel’s synopsis inspires. Who killed Adam? What happened to Joy’s sister, Grace? Who’s blackmailing Joy? The premise asks more questions than it answers, and I absolutely can’t wait to uncover the truth in what I can only imagine will be an edge-of-your-seat reading experience and the perfect way to delve more deeply into genres I have relatively little experience with.

The book sounds interesting but I have to be honest, that cover gives me a headache. Too much writing all over the place. I hope you enjoy it!

Please Don’t Tell sounds really dark — but in a good way! Nice selection.

I’m definitely going to be reading this one as well. Plus it will go towards my debut author challenge for 2016
I normally shy away from too much thriller because I get spooked easily, but this one seems to have a deep, developed plot like the old school suspense films. I hope it’s really great!
