Between The Lines: Holiday Gifts From The BFG

Between The Lines is a sporadic feature on Pop! Goes The Reader in which authors and other industry professionals provide further insight into the writing and publishing process in the form of interviews, guest posts, etc. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy as we read between the lines.

Well, ’tis the season for gift-giving, and to celebrate the release of The BFG (2016), directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Mark Rylance and Ruby Barnhill, my friends at Disney and Think Jam were kind enough to send me a very special gift box filled to the brim with presents from the Big Friendly Giant himself. I thought it might be nice to share some pictures of what was included! Let’s take a look inside, shall we?

The items included in the gift box were: The BFG by Roald Dahl (Newly republished with the book’s cover inspired by the film poster), The BFG on Blu-Ray, one dream journal, one pen, one leather embossed bookmark, one Funko Pop, one glass jar, and two glow stick bracelets.

The box begins with a personal note from The BFG, which reads as follows:

Hello my favourite Human Beans!

In honour of The BFG now being available on Blu-Ray and Digital HD, I’m here to wish you a Happy Holidaddles and hope that you have your New Year’s Revolutions sorted for a proper 2017!

This box is a gift to celebrate all of your dreams and phizzwizards over these years.

I hope your holidaddles are filled with Whizzpopping and happiness with scrumdiddlyumptious foods and lots of Frobscottle.

But stay clear of your twitch-tickling family relatives!

Love,
The BFG

I would like to thank everyone at Disney and Think Jam for this absolutely wonderful present. It was such a delight to open over the holidays and I can’t wait to read Dahl’s beloved classic and watch the accompanying film with my family.

Hi! I’m Jen! I’m a thirty-something introvert who loves nothing more than the cozy comfort of home and snuggling my two rescue cats, Pepper and Pancakes. I also enjoy running, jigsaw puzzles, baking and everything Disney. Few things bring me more joy than helping a reader find the right book for them!
